Stop the Thurstaston Solar Farm

The proposed Thurstaston Solar Farm would see large areas of productive agricultural land permanently transformed into an industrial-scale energy development on the edge of one of Wirral’s most sensitive rural and coastal landscapes.

This is not a small, discreet scheme. It is a major infrastructure project that would fundamentally change the character of Thurstaston and its surrounding countryside—an area valued for farming, wildlife, tourism, and its proximity to protected landscapes and the Dee Estuary.

This proposal raises serious concerns about:

• the loss of good quality farmland at a time when food security is increasingly important
• harm to landscape character, heritage, and biodiversity
• industrialisation of a rural area through fencing, substations, access tracks, cabling, and long-term security lighting

Local residents and community groups believe this development is unnecessary, poorly located, and disproportionate to the benefits it claims to deliver.
